

ITE'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY FOCUSES ON SHAPING A SMARTER WORLD

The School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE) successfully hosted the 25th Regional Information Technology and Engineering Convention (ITECon 2025) from March 26 to 28, 2025, at the 69¿Ú½» Global Center. With the theme “Innovate, Transform, Sustain: Shaping a Smarter World,” the three-day event brought together experts, educators, and students to explore emerging trends and challenges in the fields of IT and engineering.
The convention opened with inspiring keynote addresses from industry leaders. Mr. Don R. De La Cruz, IT Supervisor at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), highlighted the latest technological advancements, setting the tone for insightful discussions. Engr. Joseph N. Nova of Red Gutz Trading followed with an engaging presentation on artificial intelligence and robotics, delving into current trends and ethical concerns. Dr. Mary Jane C. Calagui from Cagayan State University further broadened the discourse by discussing climate change and renewable energy solutions.
Day two of the convention placed a strong emphasis on cybersecurity and digital transformation. Mr. Victor B. Lorenzo, a certified ethical hacker, addressed the growing threats of cybercrime and the necessity of robust digital security measures. Dr. Rocela Angelica B. Gorospe captivated the audience with her presentation on the Internet of Things (IoT), examining both its potential and the challenges faced by rural communities in adopting new technologies. Engr. Godofredo T. Avena’s virtual session on cloud computing provided participants with hands-on insights into Virtual Private Clouds and EC2 instances, while Dr. Joey Avilez rounded off the day with an interactive session on machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The final day was marked by a series of exciting competitions, including programming, quiz bee, bridge and tower building, robotics, and Mobile Legends. Schools from across Region II showcased their technical expertise, with winners receiving cash prizes, certificates, and trophies. The convention concluded with an atmosphere of inspiration and empowerment, reinforcing participants’ commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in their respective fields.
